Woodies In Ogden

I know this information is very late, but it’s been hard to hammer out the time when the drivers arrive in Ogden. So here’s an official update with all the information you need.
Date: June 20, 2009 (Saturday, tomorrow!)
Time: 4:00 PM
Place: Farr’s Ice Cream
Address: 286 21st Street, Ogden
Three woodies will arrive at the location between 4:00 and 4:30 PM. I have spoken to the manager at Farr’s Ice Cream and she says that we cannot reserve spots for the cars because Saturday afternoon is the busiest time of the week. The camera club has been given permission to shoot in and around Farr’s Ice Cream, but please following these guidelines:

1. Photographs are for non-commercial use only.
2. Please do not move tables, displays or other merchandise in the shop.
3. Be polite, ask customers and staff for permission to take their photo.
4. Have fun! Buy some ice cream or soda between shots!

If time permits, the cars will drive over to the Union Station and park for some photos before they leave for Salt Lake. If you come tomorrow, take some time to chat it up with the drivers.

Here are some links on the drivers and the trip they are making from Washington D.C. to Santa Cruz:

Photo Judging Rubric

Our new judging coordinator, Joyce Decaria, has written up a new photo judging rubric for our monthly photo contest. We encourage everyone to review the rubric and sign-up to judge photos. From my own experience, this is the best way to learn how to critique and improve your own photos. Basically, learn what judges are looking for in a quality image.

Judging is done the first Thursday each month at 7:00 PM in the auditorium at the Ogden Art Stop. Please contact Joyce Decaria, Bill Singleton or myself if you are interested.

Photowalking Utah - June 13th

From the group at Photowalking Utah:
The June event for Photowalking Utah has been set, and this one is going to be a Star Studded Outing. Here's the info from the announcement over at PhotowalkingUtah.com:

Saturday June 13th, 2009, Photowalking Utah will be at Stansbury Park (near Tooele) for Star Trail Shots.

The Salt Lake Astronomical Society will be hosting a Star Party at the Stansbury Park Observatory in the evening. Members of SLAS and other enthusiasts bring out their telescopes for the public to look through in addition to the telescopes at the observatory. Check out Saturns Rings or Jupiters Moons while you wait for your Star Trails Bulb shot to complete.

We will be meeting out there at 9:00pm, where I will introduce you to the Vice President of the SLAS. This should also give us enough time so we can be set up by 9:30. Around 10:00pm is about when the stars should really start to shine. Typically the star parties last until 11:00pm, but the ending time for this is still TDB.

You can find Maps to the Observatory on SLAS's website:

Once again, the details:
* Stansbury Park Observatory (Not Island)
* June 13th (Saturday)
* 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm (ish)

If you're interested in carpooling to this event, please visit the Ogden Camera Club Google Group.
