Late April, early May is a busy time for the club.

Please note that to help make it easier on this end, I have set up special email addresses for you to use when responding for the banquet or sending your photo of the year entries.

End of Year Banquet

The End of Year Banquet will be on Thursday May 9th at 7pm (during our regular meeting time) at Jeremiah's Restaurant - 1307 West 12 Street in Ogden. We will be having the "Traditional Buffet" with a choice of Roast Turkey or Yankee Pot Roast, served with mashed potatoes, vegetables, tossed salad, warm rolls, dessert & beverage. The cost will be $10 per person (with the club picking up the balance). Please RSVP with the number attending to rsvp@ogdencameraclub.com by Thursday May 2nd.

The banquet is for paid club members and their families only. However, if you know someone who would like to join the club that would like to come to the banquet (perhaps they’ve been to a few meetings), they are welcome as long as they pay their membership dues at the banquet. Dues paid at the banquet will be good for the entire 2013-14 club year.
Photo of the Year
It’s time again for the annual Photo of the Year Competition. Club members can submit up to 3 photos to be judged for photo of the year. Photos do not need to be images that you've used before in monthly competitions and the category is open. Submit what you think are your best three images of the year. Photos are due on April 30. Late entries will not be accepted. Email photo of the year entries only to poty2013@ogdencameraclub.com
Membership Dues

May marks the end of the club year and June starts a new one. This is a friendly reminder that your membership will need to be renewed to continue participating in the monthly competitions. It would be a great help if you could pay your membership dues at the banquet. Membership is $20 for an individual or $25 for a family.
May Photo Competition
And finally don’t forget your May photo competition entries, the categories Dance and Flowers, are due by April 25 and should be emailed to ogdencameraclub@gmail.com

As a summary:

April 25 - May Photo Competition entries (Dance and Flowers) due April 30 - Photo of the Year entries due (3 photos, any subject)
May 2 - Deadline to RSVP for End of Year Banquet
May 9 - End of Year Banquet (and please try to pay your dues too)

April Meeting

Our guest speaker at the April meeting will be Rob Daugherty of RobsWildlife.com and TheVestGuy.com

From photographing Bald Eagles in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge to the landscapes of the Oregon coastline, and capturing images of the wildlife of the breathtaking Mt Hood National Forest, Rob's interests became the foundation for what would become his life's passion.

While his earlier career was in law enforcement, it too involved nature and protecting native wildlife. And while it seems a natural segue way, this committed photographer became an innovator for his fellow photographers, when he invented a series of photo vests and founded his company called The Vest Guy. For over 22 years, Rob has been supplying photography, tactical, and safety vests, pouches, slings and bags to customers all over the world. All his products are proudly manufactured in the USA.

After moving to Northern Utah in 2005, Rob was inspired by the large number of wildlife photography opportunities available within short distances of his North Salt Lake City home. With several state and national parks in close proximity to his home, Rob has honed his skills to include the capturing of his subjects in their natural habitats and often most unguarded moments. He has developed a great sense of patience in waiting for that 'One Shot' that will leave you with a deep appreciation for nature and all of its wonders.

As an international photographer, Rob has experienced places and cultures that have humbled him and instilled in him an even greater appreciation for the world in which we live. His international travels include: Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and China.

He continues to make frequent trips to our nation's most picturesque National Parks include Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Arches, Zion, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, and Capitol Reef, as well to numerous state parks, wildlife refuges and bird sanctuaries.

For Rob, 'every time I go out to shoot I learn something, whether about myself, my gear, or the animals I'm interacting with…[and] to this day, conservation and protection of our wildlife and nature remains a vital part of who I am.'

The meeting will be held at the Harrison Regent on Thursday April 11th at 7pm (same location as the March meeting).

- Address: 4481 Harrison Blvd, Ogden, UT 84403
- Phone:(801) 479-1653

Parking is limited by the entrance, but there is ample parking just to the north in the parking lot for the strip mall where Snider Meats used to be. There is also parking in the alley way between the strip mall and the Harrison Regent with a gate straight across from the main entrance. There are a few handicap parking places available near the entrance.
